Fireroad Get the app

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-01

Fireroad is a GPS speedometer for iPhone. This page says exactly what the app does with your data. It does very little.

What the app uses

Your location, on your phone. Fireroad reads your location to show your speed, count your trip distance, and work out sunrise and sunset times. This happens on your phone.

Background location during a ride. If you leave Fireroad to open another app, such as navigation, the trip meter keeps counting, but only during a ride you started with Fireroad open. iOS shows its blue location indicator while this happens. It stops after 10 minutes below 8 mph, and it stops right away if you close the app. Fireroad never starts on its own, and it never asks for "Always" location access.

Approximate location, sent to Apple Weather. To show the weather, Fireroad asks Apple's WeatherKit service for the forecast and sends your coordinates, rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km). Like any internet request, it also shows Apple your network's IP address. Fireroad sends no name, account, or device ID, and has no account to tie it to. Apple's handling of weather requests is described in Apple's privacy policy and the Apple Weather data sources page. Apple Weather is the only service the app contacts.

Apple Music, optional, on your phone. If you turn on Now Playing, Fireroad asks for access to your media library and reads the current song's title and artist from the Music app, and sends your play, pause, and skip taps to it. This happens on your phone. Nothing about your music is sent anywhere. If you don't turn it on, Fireroad never asks.

What the app does not do

What is stored on your phone

Your settings (units, themes, gauge and layout choices) and your trip distance are saved on your phone. Max speed is kept only while the app is running. Deleting Fireroad deletes all of it.

This website

fireroad.app is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third parties. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (your IP address and the pages you request) for a short time to run the service.

Children

Fireroad has no accounts and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The only data that leaves the phone is the approximate location described above.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
